Palestinians in Lebanon aware of need to avoid causing problems

Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) representative in Lebanon Abbas Zaki said the Palestinians in Lebanon are "collectively" aware of the need to avoid "tragedies" similar to the violence that engulfed the Nahr El Bared refugee camp in North Lebanon
He said that the Palestinians in Lebanon will not threaten stability or security in Lebanon or the camps.
Hariri in Koreitem last week, Zaki told reporters there were exaggerated reports surrounding the Ain Helweh refugee camp in the South, and that efforts are underway in cooperation with the Lebanese armed forces, Palestinian committees, and civil society to avoid a repeat of the Nahr El Bared fighting.
Previously on the 14th of this month, US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice expressed her country’s support for the “continuation of a path of greater democracy, greater freedom,” in Lebanon, following talks Hariri and leaders of the March 14th coalition, in Beirut. Rice had said the US is committed to a “truly sovereign and independent” Lebanon, where “foreign interference and foreign intimidation should never be permitted.” She also paid tribute to late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri whom she stressed was “brutally assassinated.”
