Reports of a US office in Iran

Asked about proposals for a US interest section in Iran, as the US does in Cuba to represent the US interests after the US severed relations with Iran years ago, US Department Of State Deputy Spokesman Tom Casey said today that "I saw a story or saw an op-ed alluding to that. I'm not aware of any plans to do so."

He further said he was not aware if it was under consideration saying "I can't guarantee you that there aren't people somewhere in the US Government talking about it. But it's certainly not anything that's been decided nor is it anything that I would expect to see decisions on in, you know, the near future."
