Ereikat told reporters that since Annapolis conference, Israel approved tenders for building 138 housing units in comparison of the same period of the last year. He stressed that continued Israeli aggressions, campaigns arrests and blockade on the West Ban and Gaza Strip would destroy and torpedo the peace process.
"Why ahead of Rice's arrival, Israel had approved construction of more new homes," Ereikat asked.
Rice said on Sunday that Israel's continued settlement building could hurt Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, Israel's Haaretz reported. Rice in the area was to to meet Olmert in Jerusalem and President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank city of Ramallah, and hold three-way talks with the lead negotiators, Israel foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and former PM Ahmed Qureia.
